Pronuclear Injection
Transgenic mice are designed to add extra copies or exogenous gene by microinjecting a gene into the pronuleus of 0.5-dpc fertilized eggs. The gene product can be expressed in a specific manner (i.e. tissue-specific or temporally regulated) according to the transgene design. With delicate designs, transgene expression can also be “conditional”.
