In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) is one of the assisted reproduction approaches. Oocytes are co-cultured with spermatozoa thus fertilized embryos can be harvested for further use. IVF can be applied to, for example, getting quite amount of offspring from a single fertile and active (usually young) male mouse at the same time. For those male mice with lower sperm activity (ex. aging), IVF can also provide an alternative to nature mating to get offspring.
