Ya-Lin Lu 呂雅琳
(2012-2014)

Ya-Lin was Jun-An's first research assistant. Ya-Lin initiated the large scale RNA seq experiments in the JAC lab. She got her first degree from Konx College with Matthew W. Jones-Rhoade. She left the JAC lab in the summer of 2014 and pursued her PhD in Washington University in St. Louis. Ya-Lin’s currently position is a research scientist at Cajal Neuroscience.

Chiao-Nung Chen 陳巧儂
(2013-2014)

Chiao-Nung joined the JAC lab as a part time technician during 2013~2014. She left in 2014 summer to join MSc program in Institute of Microbiology at National Taiwan University. Currently, she is a phD student in Institute of Microbiology at National Taiwan University.

Paula Kuo 郭庭育
(2014-2015)

Paula earned her BSc degree at Chang-Gung University in Taiwan. In 2012, she moved on to National Yang-Ming University and got a MSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2014. During her graduate study, she was in Dr. Cheng-Wen Wu's lab and interested in understanding the negative regulators in stemness pathways and how did they contribute to lung cancer progression and metastasis. She joinedthe JAC lab as a research assistant in 2014~2015, and then pursued her PhD in University of Queensland Australia. Currently, she is a postdoctoral scientist at Cambridge University, UK.

Ting-Chun Liu 劉庭君
(2015-2016)

Ting-Chun got her BSc degree from National Taiwan Normal University in 2014. Recently, she joined Jun-An Chen's lab as a research assistant in Dec 2014. She left the JAC lab in June 2016 & moved on to study her MSc degree in NTU.

Te-Lin Lin 林德霖
(2015-2016)

TeLin got his BSc degree from Taipei Medical University. In 2011, he moved on to Kaohsiung Medical University to study his MSc in Graduate Institute of Medicine and joined to Yu-Jyh Jong’s lab to focus on Spinal muscular atrophy, especially for NMJ denervation in SMA mouse model. Recently, He joined Jun-An Chen's lab as a research assistant in Aug 2015. TeLin left the lab and moved on to get his PhD in IBMS Academia Sinica.

Tzu-Ling Tsen 曾子玲
(2015-2016)

Tzu-Ling received her bachelor and master degrees in Biomedical Sciences from Chung Shan Medical University. During the days in Chung Shan, she focused on elucidating the mechanism of pathogenicity in Candida albicansSaccharomyces cerevisiae and discover several CaCdc4 associated proteins that have extended Dr. Jia-Ching Shieh's research projects. Under his supervision and encouragement, she decided to continue my PhD study abroad. Therefore, she participated in Dr. Alastair Goldman's lab in The University of Sheffield in UK for her PhD life (the department of molecular biology and biotechnology).Her PhD work was focused on the workings of meiosis by using as a model and revealed some regulatory roles in meiotic DSB resection. Tzu-Lin is now a specialist in biotch company.

Hung Lo 羅鴻
(2016-2017)

Hung Lo received his 5-year integrated MSc/BSc degrees from the Department of Life Sciences and Institute of Genome Sciences at National Yang-Ming University. He joined Dr. Ming-Ji Fann’s lab in 2011 and continued his Master thesis till 2015. His study focused on the molecular mechanism of Cdk12 in mouse hair regeneration. To boarded his knowledge in neurodevelopment and non-coding RNA, he decided to join Dr. Jun-An Chen’s lab to decipher the functions of lncRNA in epigenetic regulation by genome-wide analysis in August 2016. Hung recently receives a PhD Fellowship from the Einstein Center for Neurosciences Berlin and he’s now pursuing his PhD in neural circuitry at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin from October 2017.

Yen-Chung Chen 陳彥中
(2015-2018)

Yen-chung got his MD degree from National Taiwan University in 2014, during which he did his undergraduate research focusing on the alteration of glycosylation in cancer in Min-Chuan Huang lab. After finishing his substitute medical service in Palau, he joined Jun-An Chen lab as a research assistant in 2015 to establish a human embryonic/ induced pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation system. He focused on non-coding RNA dysregulation in neurodegenerative diseases and the role of lncRNAs in defining human motor neuron rostrocaudal identity. He is now pursuing his phD in New York University, USA.

Kuan-Chih Peng 彭冠智
(2015-2019)

Kuan-Chih received his BSc from the Department of Microbiology, Soochow University in Taiwan. And he studied about innate immune mechanisms of Macrobrachium rosenbergii in Dr. Hung-Hung Sung lab in his BSc. In 2014, he moved on to National Yang-Ming University to study his MSc in Department of Life Sciences and Institute of Genome Sciences and joined the JAC lab to focus on the role of non-coding RNA during motor neuron degeneration. KC got his MSc in June 2016 and stayed in the JAC lab as an RA. He is now pursuing his phD in Stowers Institute Kansas City, USA.

Ya-Yin Tsai 蔡雅因
(2016-2020)

Ya-Yin received her bachelor degree in the Department of Microbiology, Soochow University in Taiwan. During her BSc, she studied about brominated flame retardant affects the immune response of mouse Sertoli cell to flagellin infection in Dr. Jing-Wen Ying lab. In 2014, She moved on to National Taiwan University to study her MSc in the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology. And she joined Dr. Yi-Chun Wu’s lab to study the role of blmp-1, a temporal regulatory, in the core program cell death pathway in C. elegans. Currently, she is a research assistant in the JAC lab and focuses on long non-coding RNAs in motor neurons development.

Ying-Tsen Tung 董盈岑
(2013-2019)

Ying-Tsen is a postdoctoral fellow in the JAC lab. She received her PhD degree in Institute of Zoology in National Taiwan University, under the supervision of Dr. Yung-Feng Liao and Dr.Wei-Pang Huang. Her PhD work of elucidation the autophagy-dependent mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases was crystalized in several peer reviewed papers. After joining JA Chen’s group, she broadened her interests into stem cell/ neurodevelopment fields, and involved in characterizing how mir-17~92 sustains motor neuron survival during development. Now she teams up with Kuan-Chih and Yen-Chung to further decipher the role of miRNAs in motor neuron diseases by using ESC/iPSC differentiation approaches and mice models. She recently got the MOST Research Program for Subsidizing Research Scholars. She is currently a specialist manager at National Biotechnology Park.

Wei-Szu Liu 柳維思
(2019-2021)

Wei-Szu got her BSc degree from the Department of Life Sciences and Institute of Genome Sciences at National Yang-Ming University. She joined Dr. Tsai Jin-Wu’s lab and focused on the function of protein PRRT2. Then she went to UCL to study MSc Neuroscience and graduated in 2019. In the same year, she joined the JAC lab as a research assistant. Currently, she is an analysist in PAREXEL.

Yi-Han Li 李意涵
(2020-2021)

Yi-Han received her bachelor’s degree from the Department of Biochemical Science & Technology at National Taiwan University. Then she joined Dr. Chun-Liang Pan’s lab in the Institute of Molecular Medicine at National Taiwan University, where she got her master’s degree. She studied the function of a G-protein coupled receptor that is involved in the transmission of thermal sensory information for lifespan regulation in the nematode C. elegans. She joined Dr. Jun-An Chen’s lab as a research assistant in 2020. She is now pursuing her phD in University of Massachusetts, USA.

Sheng-Ping Hsu 徐聖平
(2020-2021)

Sheng-Ping got his bachelor degree from Interdisciplinary Program of Life Science of National Tsing-Hua University in 2017. As an undergraduate student, he participated in Chuang-Rung Changs lab to investigate the relationship between mitochondrial dynamics and actin stabilities. Moreover, he worked in Chih-Tien Wang’s lab and accomplished his master degree in Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of National Taiwan University in 2019. His thesis focused on the roles of a novel neurotransmitter in patterned spontaneous activities occurring in developing retinas. After military service, he joined Jun-An Chen’s lab to seek more instinctive factors in neural development. He is now pursuing his phD in The University of Texas at Austin, USA.

Jen Liu 劉臻
(2020-2021)

Jen received her MSc from the Institute of Brain Science at National Yang-Ming University. She joined Dr. Jin-Wu Tsai’s lab for her master thesis and focused on the function of a novel Forkhead box (FOX) transcription factor in brain developmental stages. Recently, she joins the JAC lab as a research assistant and works on scRNA-seq. She is now pursuing her phD in VIB-KU Leuven Center, Belgium.

Ming Yang 明揚
(2018-2021)

Ming Yang received his BSc and MSc degrees from the Department of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics at Tzu Chi University in 2015 and 2017 respectively. During his BSc, he studied the behaviors and molecular mechanisms underlying learning and memory processing in CaV3.2 knockout mice with Dr. Ingrid Liu. Recently, he joined JAC lab as a research assistant from October 2018. He is now pursuing his phD in OIST, Japan.

Chung-Jung Li 李忠融
(2013-2021)

Chung-Jung got his BSc from Chung Shan Medical University in 2013. In 2013 summer, he move to National Yang-Ming University to study his MSc in Department of Life Sciences and Institute of Genome Sciences. In 2015, he joined TIGP-MCB program in Academia Sinica and continued to work on how miRNA regulates Hox gene expression in the developing spinal cord. Chung-Jung graduated in 2021 and he stayed as a short-period postdoc to exploit his career choices. Currently, he is a postdoc in Yale University, USA.

Shih-Hsin Chang 張世欣
(2015-2022)

Shih-Hsin got her bachelor and master degrees from the Department of Life Sciences and Institute of Brain Science, respectively, at National Yang-Ming University. In 2015, she entered the TIGP-INS for her PhD study, and aimed to focus on the research of a famous miRNA - miR-34 and its implication for how microRNAs mediate precise spinal Interneuron population to exert delicate sensory-to-motor outputs. She earned her PhD at 2021, and continued staying to study the role of miR-34 and its implication in neurodegenerative diseases in Dr. JA Chen's group. Currently, she is a postdoc in Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.

Tai-Heng Chen 陳泰亨

Tai-Heng got his MD from Kaosiung Medical University and he is currently an attending physician in pediatric division in KMU affiliated hospital. Tai-Heng is interested in rare child genetic disease, especially for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), which is the first leading gentic cause for infant death. Tai-Heng joined the JAC lab in 2014 to pursue his PhD in Academia Sinica Translation Medicine Programme. He is pursuing the molecular mechanism underlying motor neuron death in SMA.

Ho-Chiang Hsu 許賀強

Ho-Chiang got his BSc degree from National Taiwan Normal University in 2013. Recently, He joined Jun-An Chen's lab as a research assistant in Jan 2015.

Ee-Shan Liau 廖于緗
(2016-2023)

Ee-Shan earned her Bsc degree at University of Malaya, majoring in Genetics and Molecular Biology. During her undergraduate studies, she had gained research experiences by volunteering and completing her final year project on circular RNAs in Epigenetics lab under supervision of Dr. Chee Kwee, Ea. Since she also has affinity for neuroscience, she participated in TIGP-IIP 2014 and joined JAC lab as a summer intern. Upon returning to her home country, she continued at Epigenetics lab as research assistant and worked on noncoding RNAs and EBV. Research experiences at both labs made her passions in science grow stronger and she has decided to pursue her graduate studies under TIGP-MCB. She is currently a PhD student in JAC lab to study on epigenetics in motor neurons development. Currently, she is a postdoc in Department of Systems Biology, Harvard University, USA.
