Ya-Ping Yen 顏雅萍

Postdoctoral fellow

Ya-Ping received her BSc in Animal Science from National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan. After graduating, she worked in the Transgenic Mouse Model Core Facility at the National Core Facility Program for micro-manipulating pre-implantation mouse embryos. Then she devoted herself to research, received the M.S. degree in Animal Science from National Taiwan University, and investigated the pluripotent potential of mesenchymal stem cells. Later she continued her Ph.D. and co-supervised by the Shau-Ping Lin and Jun-An Chen’s lab. In SPL’s lab, she studied epigenetic regulation in pluripotent stem cells. In the JAC lab, she is focused on the epigenetic functions in dissecting the role of long non-coding RNAs during motor neuron development. Ya-Ping is currently a postdoctoral fellow from the JAC Lab in the Institute of Molecular Biology in Academia Sinica to discover the significance of RNA modification and the underlying mechanism during neural development and relevant degeneration disease.

Kuan-Wei Chen 陳冠維

Postdoctoral fellow

Kuan-Wei Chen is a postdoctoral fellow in JAC Lab. He finished his PhD program in Professor Linyi Chen’s Lab in the Institute of Molecular Medicine, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. During his PhD training, he not only discovered the new transcription regulations by an adaptor protein in myogenesis but also involved in other projects including cancer progression, neurogenesis, and cell biology in myogenesis. Before graduation, Kuan-Wei was attracted by the beauty of long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs). Therefore, after military serving in 2018, he joins the Dr. Jun-An Chen’s Lab, aiming to dissect the mechanism of LncRNAs during the development of motor neuron.

Yu-Fu Wu 吳聿富

Postdoctoral fellow

Yu-Fu received his PhD degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the USA. His PhD work with Dr. Marni Boppart mainly focused on developing stem cell- and extracellular vesicle-based approaches to recover skeletal muscle from disuse atrophy during aging. Yu-Fu’s long-term interest lies in deciphering mysteries beneath the disease and degeneration of neuromuscular system. To fit this interest, he joined The JAC Lab after graduation and now is working on dissecting the roles of microRNAs in aging and sarcopenia.

Fang-Yu Hsu 許芳瑜

PhD student

Fang-Yu received her bachelor’s degree from the Department of Biology at National Changhua University of Education in 2017. During her undergraduate study, she joined Dr. Chuan-Fu Keng’s lab to investigate tilapia fish scale regeneration by transcriptome analysis. Then she initially joined the JAC lab as a master's student and was subsequently admitted directly into the Ph.D. program in Genome and Systems Biology (GSB) Degree Program from National Taiwan University - Academia Sinica. Her research focuses on uncovering the potential functions of non-coding RNAs and micropeptides during neural development and neurodegeneration.

Xin-Le Yap Eunice 葉心樂

PhD student

Eunice got her Bsc (Hons) Biomedical Science from International Medical University, Malaysia. Her undergraduate research project was on the oxidative stress induction and regulation of superoxide dismutase by salsolinol in neural stem cells under the supervision of Dr. Koh Rhun Yian. Then she moved on to pursue her Master’s degree in Cell Biology under the supervision of Dr. Lee Wai Leng working on the diagnosis of prostate cancer using extracellular vesicles and FTIR as a new approach at Monash University Malaysia. After that, she joined the Molecular Cell Biology (MCB) program offered by TIGP in 2020. She then joined the JAC lab in 2021 with her current research focusing on the role of miRNAs in aging regulation.

Mien Chang 張綿

Research specialist

Mien has a B.S. from the National Open University in Taiwan. Her research career started at John Kung’s lab in 1998. From 2012, she started working as a Research Specialist/Lab Manager in the JAC lab. Her current duties include responsibilities as Lab Manager, and maintain mouse strain and common chemical stoke in the lab.

Yi-Ching Su 蘇怡靜

Lab manager

Yi-Ching got her master degree from the Department of Life Sciences and Institute of Genome Sciences at National Yang-Ming-Chiao-Tung University. She joined Dr. Jenn Yah Yu’s lab in 2017 and studied the neural development in the mouse cerebral cortex. To expand the knowledge in neurodevelopment and non-coding RNA, she joined Dr. Jun-An Chen’s lab in 2019 as a reaserch assistant. Now, she is promoted to be a lab manager by Jun-An from 2023.
